  • Accommodations include heavy-duty rip-stop canvas dome tents (3m x 3m x 1.8m).
  • Bedrolls include a camping mattress, duvet, and linen, packed in a dustproof canvas zip bag.
  • Towels, all-in-one shampoo and shower gel are provided.
  • Even in remote wild camps, we offer bucket showers and a toilet

Guides & Hosts

  • Experienced guides, working alongside conservancy staff, lead all activities.
  • A dedicated support crew manages camp setup, meal preparation, and guest comfort.
  • Our safaris are hosted by the conservancies that co-own our business, ensuring an authentic, community-driven experience.

Cultural & Flexible Itineraries

  • Most of the people we encounter are semi-nomadic herders, moving in response to pasture and water availability.
  • Daily schedules remain flexible, allowing us to adapt to local opportunities and conditions.
  • Activities listed in itineraries are indicative and may vary based on what’s happening in each conservancy at the time.

Meals & Beverages

  • Wholesome bush cuisine with a hot dinner, light lunch, and healthy breakfast.
  • Evening beverages include beer, wine, gin and tonics, with non-alcoholic drinks and water available throughout the day.
  • Guests will be asked about drink preferences and dietary requirements upon booking.

Health & Safety

  • Guests with medical conditions should ensure they have sufficient medication for the duration of the trip, as there are no pharmacies in remote areas.
  • A satellite phone is carried for emergencies only.
  • Charging facilities: An inverter is available to charge batteries (requires a 2-pin South African plug). Vehicles also have 12V charging capability (cigarette lighter socket).

Malaria & Climate Considerations

  • Some expeditions travel to the Kunene River, which is a low-risk malaria area.
  • Rainfall in Kunene is scarce (less than 100mm per annum), but occasional flash floods in dry riverbeds can influence travel routes.
